Making peach cobbler the Georgia way is easy! I have been making peach cobbler for years. Being born and raised in Georgia, I have loved peach cobbler since Mama fed the Gerber Baby Food version to me. As I grew up, I ate everything with peaches topped on it or stirred in it- cereal, ice cream, oatmeal, cobbler or not.

Today, I’m going to go a little off topic and share one of my favorite recipes. Creating yummy peach delights from the recipes handed down to me is super easy. The peaches are so sweet there is little sugar needed, and unless you are Paula Dean and add butter to everything, making and eating peach recipes are pretty healthy. Let’s get started!
n

First, cut and peel 6 to 8 peaches. After cutting them into bite sizes, set the bowl aside.
n
Mix together the following ingredients in a mixing bowl.
- n
- 1 cup of flour
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
- 1 pinch of salt
n
n
n
n
Next, add to the dry mix
- n
- 1 cup of milk
n
Blend until smooth.
n
Add the above mixture to a 9 x 13 pan filled with
- n
- 1/2 cup melted butter
n
DO NOT STIR the new wet mixture!
n
In a large cooking pot,
- n
- add your scrumptious cut to bite sized peaches
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
n
n
n
On low heat, bring the mixture to a soft boil, a little bubbling is all it needs.
n
Add the peaches to the pan with the butter and flour mixture.
n

AGAIN, DO NOT STIR THE MIXTURE!
n
For extra crust on the cobbler, add this mixture to the top of the peaches.
- n
- 1/2 cup self rising flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoon melted butter
n
n
n
Add a dusting of cinnamon and bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
n

The flour will rise to the top leaving a mouth watering crust covered peach cobbler.

Here is a video from Southern Living to help you along. The extra crust part is not on the video!

We always had vanilla ice cream to top off the peach cobbler. It makes for a great summer dessert, and best if served on a cool night’s porch with family and friends.

Speaking of friends, my friend Karol, is creating a great recipe book filled with recipes from teachers just like us. It is filled with yummies for your next BBQ or sitting on the porch relaxing with family and friends. I have included this recipe for you to keep. Also, there is a s’mores dip recipe from me too! If you would like to grab your free copy of the recipe book, due to publish after June 4, 2015, please add yourself to my newsletter and blog post notification list. You can sign up for them here.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my rendition of Georgia Peach Cobbler. I’m off to grab some more s’mores dip before the kids eat it all. Maybe tomorrow I will make peach cobbler the Georgia way….
