First up for me is my favorite all time books for Christmas. One is the Soldiers Night Before Christmas, a sweet story of a Sergeant that plays the role of Santa to all the deployed and homesick soldiers. I have 3 copies of this book, one for each my children. It truly is a wonderful story to share, and if you have a loved one deployed or away, bring your tissues. The other book is the traditional Twas the Night Before Christmas. I love this particular one because it features a Santa drawn for a Coca-Cola tribute from 1931 to 1964.

This next little goodie is the BEST activity for your holiday party. It’s my Sleepy Potion activity. I follow the recipe and as I pour them into a large mixing bowl (I usually get one from the cafeteria), the fun begins. Adding the ingredients 1 by 1 and with HUGE over-exaggeration, I talk about how it will make them very sleepy. The effect of the dry ingredients as it mixes is like a magic show. The kids can take turns mixing “potion” and add their wish to the mix. Once completed, scoop about a cup of the mix into a decorative zip tight bag. Attach the provided page for them to read to their loved ones.
